This project was a challenging two-story vertical expansion over existing occupied patient areas to expand cardiac services above the current 3-West floor. It also included renovating portions of the existing Tower 4th and 5th floors for a new connection link. In addition, alterations were made to accommodate two new elevators for efficient vertical transportation.

The 5-West floor has a link to the existing Tower Building 5th floor, which includes three Catheterization Labs (1-New, 1-Relocated from existing 2nd floor, 1-Shelled for a future lab) a 10 bed Holding Unit, a Coronary Care Unit of four beds, a 16 bed Step-Down Patient Care Unit, and related support spaces at the core. A portion of the existing 5th floor Tower Building was renovated to allow for new waiting and intake functions for the Cardiac Catheterization Department.
